In an age when we are seeing government as well as private museums and galleries closing like cheetahs chasing dinner, the University of Redlands is opening its new Center for the Arts building. The 42,000 square foot building was dedicated last Friday. It houses the Theater Arts and Art & Art History departments in two buildings that will later be connected by a gallery and walkway once the second phase of building has been completed.
The first theater performances are planned for March with “The Fantasticks” at the Frederick Loewe Theatre and “Mrs. California” in April at the Glenn Wallichs Theater.
Perhaps the University of Redlands should offer consulting services because evidently, they are doing something right.
