Sadly, we have lost two notable photographers.
LeRoy Grannis died on February 5, 2011 in Torrance, California at the age of 93. His images helped make the sport of surfing a cultural phenomenon in the 1960’s and 1970’s. He co-founded Surfing Magazine. To read Grannis’ obituary in the Los Angeles Times, click here.
Milton Rogovin, a social documentary photographer who championed the poor, destitute, and underprivileged, died on January 18, 2011. He was 101 years old. Rogovin gained recognition when his photographs of storefront church services in Buffalo, NY, were published in Aperture magazine in 1962. Read his obituary in the New York Times by clicking here.
