“With its immensity, immateriality, and variability, the sky has been an enduring subject in art history, fascinating and challenging generations of artists.
As soon as the medium of photography was introduced in 1839, photographers attempted to represent the sky and its natural phenomena.”
The above quote is taken from the Getty’s website and partially describes the current photographic exhibit with the topic of the sky. The sky and clouds are one of my favorite things in this world. I never get tired of looking at the constant changes from minute to minute. I have photographed my share of sunsets, sunrises, cotton candy clouds and stars.
I look forward to seeing this exhibit that is broken into the following categories: Clouds, Dark Skies, Skies in Color, and Urban Skies. In Focus: The Sky runs until Dec 4, 2011.
See you there under the clouds.
